Their stance on homosexual marriages, priestly celibacy, the role of women… For many, the Catholic Church seems completely out of touch with Western society. Faced with the disaffection of the faithful, competition of evangelical churches and the weakening of the Catholic matrix in Western countries, an influential section of the Curia continues to depend on a withdrawal into conservative tradition. But there are those who challenge that retreat and believe that the only real solution is allowing women priests and bishops.
This film follows the journey of three committed women, in the United States, Switzerland and France, called to the priesthood in their fight to have their vocation recognised. Today, there are thought to be over 200 women across the world who belong to the unauthorised Roman Catholic woman priest movement. They take part in unauthorised ordination services to become priests and are at the forefront of a model of service that focuses on grassroots communities and a renewed Catholic Church.
