The Beau-Rivage is a palace unlike any other: rated “hotel” of the year in 2023 by the Gault and Miliau, it is, above all, a hotbed of diplomacy. It has hosted some of the most important summits of the last 150 years.
Outside of summits, the most prestigious guests have also been here, from Nelson Mandela to the Dalai Lama. And for each and every one of them, whether famous or not, the 450 employees are dedicated to offering a more-than-perfect, personalised service. In terms of cuisine, the palace offers guests the inventions of the world’s most starred chef: Anne-Sophie Pic.
This service has a long tradition. Since it opened in 1861, the Beau-Rivage has welcomed the elite of Europe’s aristocracy, creating a special stopover for aesthetes from all over Europe who travelled to Italy to learn the arts. A need that not only led to the creation of a palace, but also to the world’s most prestigious hotel school: the Ecole de Lausanne, through which the directors of the world’s greatest hotels have passed.
