Alone, unarmed, a virtual prisoner, Himmler’s doctor, Felix Kersten, forced the Reichsfuhrer to trick and lie to Hitler. Week by week, month by month, Kersten saved thousands from the Nazi death camps. By the end of the war, he was spying for the allies, negotiating peace treaties and diverting entire convoys of prisoners to safety in Switzerland. And Himmler had come to be totally dependent on him.
