But on his mountain farm in the Berchtesgaden Alps, he was surrounded by a close-knit family circle. Hitler’s mistress Eva Braun organised life on the Obersalzberg as his private secretary. Anyone who wanted to belong to the close-knit community had to be considered unconditionally loyal. The Goebbels and Bormann families and many others are aware of the crimes being planned in the idyllic Alpine setting.
