The Third Reich in Private: Episode 2 – The Court

They lived in seclusion from their subjects, guarded around the clock by the security service. For a long time, little was known about the private lives of the Nazi leaders. It was only after the fall of the Third Reich that more and more details came to light: film footage and photos showing the everyday lives of Adolf Hitler, Eva Braun and Hermann Göring.

For decades it was claimed that Adolf Hitler was a man without a private life, a socially disturbed character. But on his mountain farm in the Berchtesgaden Alps, he was surrounded by a close-knit family circle. Hitler’s mistress Eva Braun organised life on the Obersalzberg as his private secretary. Anyone who wanted to belong to the close-knit community had to be considered unconditionally loyal. The Goebbels and Bormann families and many others are aware of the crimes being planned in the idyllic Alpine setting.
