Macron & Merz: In the Hall of Power – Episode 2

Following on from the first part of this documentary, the second and final part of Macron & Merz: In the Hall of Power will follow the relationship between Emmanuel Macron and Freidrich Merz through the Mercosur crisis, where the disagreements of these two heads of state seem to come to a head. Paradoxically, it is the greed of Donald Trump that brings them to join forces again for the greater good of Europe. We obtained the exceptional approval of Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz to follow them behind the scenes of their political cooperation during the first few months. We accompany them on their travels as they work together at major summits and film them working individually with their advisers.

This privileged access provides a unique insight into their role in managing the challenges facing Europe. With the US threatening Greenland and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the diplomatic efforts of Macron and Merz are needed more than ever. To preserve peace, Europe must prepare for war. Developed by both France and Germany, the SCAF, the fighter jet of the future, has failed to progress beyond the prototype stage. However, it would prove to be the ideal tool  to deliver the “advanced nuclear deterrence” proposed by Emmanuel Macron. If successful, it would be a profound contribution to put the Franco-German partnership back on the path towards an autonomous Europe. 

 Faced with the “return of tragedy”, this  Franco-German alliance must once again become the guarantor of peace and the architect of Europe’s prestige. But can they deliver, and will it be enough to tackle the widespread uncertainty present in today’s political climate?
