Criminal Investigations: The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, The Case of Cyrille Boutin

It was the perfect set-up for a perfect murder. A gun. A hunting trip. A jealous lover. Cyrille Boutin, a 39-year-old maintenance worker, went hunting. But he would never return… His worried son, Hervé, immediately reported the disappearance. A search party set out the very same day. But it was all in vain.

The following day at dawn, Nathalie Boutin discovers her husband’s dead body in the middle of the forest. Did Cyrille commit suicide? Or was he the victim of an ordinary hunting accident? The investigators dismiss the two theories as the victim’s body has 5 entrance wounds. Gunshots, fired at close range. There is no doubt that the investigators have a murder on their hands.

Two months before the tragedy, Cyrille warmly welcomed a friend of his son, as well as this friend’s father, Jean-Marc Arbouin, into his home. The police come to understand that Jean-Marc and the victim not only shared the same roof, but also the same woman, Nathalie. Suspicions concerning the role of the lover grow when the investigators found that Jean-Marc had recently applied for a hunting license…
