A unique journey on the mythical Congo River. Join Commander Aimé is at the helm of an improbable craft, a gigantic wooden raft the size of a football pitch. He and his men are attempting to transport 220 tree trunks linked by steel cables from Kisangani to Kinshasa, a journey of 3 weeks and 1,800 kilometres.
The raft is also the cheapest means of transport for the poorest people who want reach the capital. But on board, danger is never far away – their greatest fear of the sailors is facing the wrath of the sky. Storms shake the raft, threatening to break up at any moment.
Conditions are no better for those who take the tracks along the river. With no public transport, travellers have no choice but to climb aboard goods lorries, a journey worthy of an epic. Congo’s infrastructure is totally dilapidated.
