Legendary Homes and Hotels – Auberge du Père Bise, Annecy

In 1903, François Bise, fisherman and head-waiter at the hotel of the boat company at Lake d’Annecy, fell in love with Marie. Maire owned a small plot of land, and together they opened a bar. The reputation of the bar grew rapidly. Throughout the fifties, Marguerite, their daughter-in-law, was awarded 3 Michelin stars, one of the first women in France to achieve this feat. Soon, celebrities such as Churchill, Sartre and Bardot, were flocking in, and the pots and pans were passed down until the Auberge hôtel was sold to Jean Sulpice in 2016.

A great sportsman and competitor at heart, Jean Sulpice, who already has two stars, is writing a new page in the history of the inn, while respecting the heritage of the Bise dynasty. The whole family is involved in this challenge: his wife Magali, a sommelier, who manages the hotel’s 120 employees; but also, indirectly, their children Paul, 14, and Sophie, 8, who live on site at the Auberge.

The challenge now is to win the 3rd star.
