He bought it in 1964 to escape the curious onlookers, the admirers and the naysayers: a 12th century windmill, in which he had hoped to recreate the atmosphere of his Egyptian childhood. It is a magical, revitalising space. Around sixty kilometres from Paris in Dannemois, Claude François was going to live out, in this superb property, his greatest moments of happiness and tranquillity, away from the madness of the working world .
After the death of the singer, the building was sold, even though the idol had been crippled in debt. Abandoned for twenty years, the windmill was bought by a couple of enthusiasts. Today, it is a place of pilgrimage for all the fans wishing to rediscover the soul of Cloclo.
