MAGA 2.0: From Border Controls to Budget Cuts

After only five months in office, Donald Trump has already tipped America into a new era. From tariffs and anti-immigration policies to drastic budget cuts and rollbacks on minority rights, the President has made his second term one of shock executive orders and radical decisions. Trump has plunged his Democratic opposition into an unprecedented state of paralysis by saturating the political and media environment.

In the corridors of the White House, the atmosphere has drastically changed. Traditional media organisations have been reigned in. Some no longer have access to press conferences or presidential visits. They have been supplanted by new media totally subservient to the administration. Brian Glenn perfectly embodies this new class of journalists. “Real America’s Voice”, his web-TV company, claims to be fighting the lies of mainstream media without ever questioning Trump’s politics.

The Trump administration has also been attacking the federal state, accused of squandering public funds. In a few months, tens of thousands of civil servants have been dismissed. Lexis McWilliam paid the price for this purge. Employed by the White House’s Digital Service, he was laid off overnight with just an email. Behind these drastic budget cuts was Trump’s once loyal lieutenant Elon Musk and his new department, DOGE (the Department of Government Efficiency). This opaque organisation hired former employees of the billionaire, some of whom were barely 19 years old. The results of DOGE’s first four months were lukewarm at best, the promised savings having never materialised. In May 2025, Musk announced his decision to refocus on his businesses, especially Tesla, which has suffered greatly from his escapades at the White House.

Faithful to his campaign promises, Donald Trump has launched a mass deportation operation targeting the 11 million immigrants living illegally on American soil. On the Mexican border, we follow Border Patrol agents as they scour the surroundings of the notorious wall separating the two countries. Their mission is to arrest immigrants, presented as a threat to public safety. Unlike other departments, the Border Patrol has had its staff and budget substantially increased.

From the corridors of the White House to the Mexican border, this documentary explains how, in just five months, Donald Trump has wrought panic across America.
