Marbella: Champagne and Bankruptcy

Since an Austrian prince decided to live in Marbella and to invite other royal family members, actors, singers and politicians to party under the Spanish sun, the city has become a paradise for the jet-set, celebrities and rich youth. They are all here to have fun.

Extravagance and excess is the spirit of the place, from the expensive beach clubs where champagne is sprayed over the clients to the very select night clubs welcoming famous DJ and IT girls.

But there is more to Marbella than glamorous fiestas, the seaside resort is still suffering of the consequences of the economic crisis that the rest of the country is feeling. Here especially properties are being sold to foreigners who are taking advantage of the economy to buy themselves a small part of the Spanish dream.
