Since starting in 1954, the competition to crown the most beautiful woman in each country has taken the world by storm. But it’s in Brazil that the competition is in a league of its own: the final of ’Miss Brazil’ receiving as many views as the football World Cup Final. With the prestigious title comes the promise of fame in both the modelling and acting worlds. But the competition isn’t without controversy, with allegations of corruption leading to unfair results and devastated runners-up.
It’s no surprise then that the competition is also big business. Dilson Stein is the man accredited with discovering Gisele Bündchen, the biggest model in the world, and enrols hundreds of girls in his modelling school. Each contestant has a group behind them helping them attain success. We follow some of the contestants as they work their way through the regional competitions to reach the coveted title of Miss Brazil.
