Moscow: A City of Extremes

The young people of today’s Moscow never lived under strictly controlled Soviet rule and are trying to find their identity in the largest city in Russia. We meet various young residents in this city of extremes and see the divergent paths they have chosen.

Sergei and his friends climb the highest buildings or ride atop speeding city trains without any safety equipment. They are adrenaline junkies looking for thrills but several young people have already lost their lives here in search of a few high speed seconds of pleasure.

As the city with the largest number of billionaires in the world there are plenty of privileged youth as well. They are worried about an international reputation that labels them as having bad taste and being unsmiling and overdressed and so are taking lessons in etiquette and style in luxurious surroundings.

Lastly we meet those who have joined the terrifying ultra nationalist groups who prowl the streets looking for illegal immigrants and acting with impunity when they find them. Many from the former Soviet Republics head to Moscow in desperate search of work but the neo-nazi groups are determined to send them home, even if it is in a body bag.
