Criminal Investigations: The Time of the Crime, The Bary Case

Chicken farmer Laurent Bary returned home at 11:35 in the morning to find a horrific scene. His wife Valerie, 38, lay in a pool of blood, her skull smashed. She had also been brutally stabbed thirteen times. The police found the murder weapon near the body, a butcher knife with a twenty centimetre blade. But no trace of the killer. The police had no fingerprints or DNA to work with.

Who could have it in for this carer? Laurent Bary has a solid alibi, he spent the morning delivering chickens in the region, and the autopsy reveals that his wife was killed an hour before he returned to his home. The case stalls. 18 months later, the victim’s watch is found several kilometres from the scene of the crime, at the home of her husband’s friend.
