Dicing with Death: Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, bamboo is green gold, while it is also ‘the wood of the poor’. We follow the thrilling adventure of the bamboo’s journey from the jungle to the marketplace. From cutting down the wood in mosquito-ravaged jungles, where the dangers and pitfalls are endless, we accompany these brave transporters as they use ingenious methods to take their cargo across the country’s waterways to be sold.

Bangladesh is a country where children work as soon as they can walk. A country where 10% of the land is submerged in waters that have been stripped of their once thriving fish content. With livelihoods precariously dangling on the line, tensions are high and we see how the young and old deal with the hardships they go through to survive.
