Dicing with Death: Brazil

Meet 14 year old Jesse. Like the other riberinhos, or river dwellers, he could swim and paddle before he could walk. Helped by children as young as five, he rows for hours a day, risking death trying to fasten his tiny canoes onto the fast moving tourist boats. The children hope to earn a few pennies for their family, plying jungle delicacies to the passengers and crew. But one day, during the making of this film, tragedy struck.
