Today Vincent unveils the magnificent region of Italy’s big lakes aboard the hydroplane of Cesare Baj. First stop is the tiny island where Napoleon liked to rest up, surrounding himself with cypress trees. They are welcomed to Isola Bela, by Count Borromée himself, landlord of the island’s extraordinary Baroque Palace. Vincent then alights in a paddy field to unearth the secrets of piedmont’s rice; studied with such scrutiny you’d think the grains were diamonds!
Without help or instruction, Angrimur taught himself to fly when he was 20 years old. He takes Vincent to see whales at sea with Icelandic cetacean specialists.
